Job Description:
Thrive Occupational Therapy is seeking a contract Occupational Therapist to join our growing team. This is a sub-contractor position with a caseload that will develop and grow gradually. The majority of the caseload will be working with the pediatric population, with opportunities to take adult referrals. Experienced Occupational Therapists are preferred and compensated accordingly.
Responsibilities/Requirements:
Pediatric:

Ability to work independently and an understanding that the initial learning curve and shadowing may mean extra unpaid hours of work

Assess strengths and needs of children referred for occupational therapy, through formal and informal evaluation, as well as consultation with the family and other community partners e.g. school, psychology etc.

Develop and implement individualized therapy programs for each child based on evaluations and re-evaluate progress at regular intervals.

Collaborate with the family, child, and community partners for program development and implementation

A strong background in sensory processing, emotional regulation, trauma informed approach to practice, fine motor skills, handwriting, self-care skill development, as well as developmental and relationship-based approaches to support children and families.

Excellent report writing skills

Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with the child, family, and their team

A passion for working with children and families with developmental needs
Adults:
An Occupational Therapist providing community-based services to clients in different stages of rehabilitation. Duties include:

Primarily assessing and treating clients in the community, in their homes, and/or workplaces

Working with clients with physical, cognitive, and/or mental health conditions
-
Providing services to a range of different customers (WCB, various insurers and government programs, private pay, and others)
-
Delivering care independently, with support from our team
-
Preparing and submitting timely reports
-
Defining your caseload (client mix and number of files)
-
Return to Work Support Services
-
Home Assessments; Assistive devices
-
Ergonomic Assessments
-
Hospital Discharge
Requirements:
-
Degree in Occupational Therapy from an approved accredited University
-
Current registration with COTNS with professional liability insurance
-
Valid driver’s license and vehicle
-
Additional car insurance coverage for business use

Legal ability to work in Canada
-
Criminal background check and vulnerable section check required
-
Preference given to those with experience working with the pediatric population
-
Preference given to those with experience working within mental health
-

Benefits & Compensation:

Compensation is hourly as a percentage of billings (contractor). Starting at 50% of hourly rate with potential to increase based on relevant experience.

Job Type:

This position is a contract position within the private sector and thus the pay is hourly for billable hours worked. Hours worked may be flexible week to week based on the caseload and client cancellations.
