Personal & Workplace Injury
Thrive Occupational Therapists (OTs) are experienced managing various injury related files for lawyers, insurance companies, WCB, and LTD.
We complete thorough and comprehensive assessments to ensure treatment is client-centred, goal-directed, customized, and cost-effective.
At Thrive Occupational Therapy we provide:
Case Management
The OT acts as the “quarterback”, to help design and coordinate the client’s treatment plan, while also directing the client to available resources to facilitate and promote recovery.
Ergonomic Assessment
Available in the home or workplace to support clients returning to work-related duties or reduce risk of injury. Following an assessment, our OTs provide written recommendations to ensure workers can achieve and maintain ideal body mechanics at their workstation.
Home Safety Assessment
Following an objective assessment of the client’s functional abilities, the OT can make recommendations for strategies, equipment, and treatment to optimise recovery.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
A FCE is a comprehensive and objective test of an individual’s ability to perform work-related tasks. It assesses range of motion, strength, positional tolerances, and mobility, detailing a client’s physical abilities and limitations. It forms the basis for return-to-work decisions and/or modifications of physically contraindicated work activities.
Hospital Discharge
The OT will assist to ensure the client’s transition from hospital to home is coordinated smoothly. The OT will complete a home assessment and liaise with the client and hospital team to confirm all necessary equipment and services are in place before discharge.
Return to Work
We assist with safe, progressive, and timely return-to-work programs, though collaboration with the client, employer, medical team, and other rehabilitation professionals. This may include a worksite visit to objectively match a clients functional abilities to their job demands for a gradual return to work. Typically, the earlier the intervention, the more effective the return-to-work program will be.
